WHY WAS CASTLE FREE CREATED?
Castle Free was created to give you more choice, as well as to work towards our Smart Drinking goals. These goals were created to help foster a culture of smart drinking amongst consumers and reduce the harmful use of alcohol. They include ensuring 'No' or 'Lower Alcohol' beer products represent at least 20% of our global beer volume by the end of 2025.
In addition to this, the introduction of an alcohol-free beer delivers on SAB and AB InBev's Public Interest Commitments made to the South African government during the business combination process at the end of 2016. This agreement was based on introducing initiatives that reduce alcohol harm in South Africa. Amongst others, SAB and AB InBev are to deliver on this commitment by introducing and promoting new 'No' and 'Lower Alcohol' products to the South African market with the aim to encourage consumers to make smart drinking choices.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CASTLE FREE?
Castle Free allows for exactly that, more freedom! This beer gives you more choice and encourages smarter drinking choices. It gives you the opportunity to enjoy the sociability of a beer, but without the alcohol.
Another benefit of Castle Free is that it's the only alcohol-free beer in South Africa, that is brewed locally. This ensures that we're not only providing you with an alcohol-free option, but also that we continue to utilise our local resources.
DOES CASTLE FREE TASTE LIKE BEER?
BUT OF COURSE! The name should give you the hint you need. Castle Free is an extension of one of our favourite beers, Castle Lager. It offers you a real beer taste, brewed with the same homegrown ingredients, minus the alcohol.
IS CASTLE FREE SUITABLE FOR THOSE NOT OVER 18?
Castle Free doesn't contain any alcohol, but all of our products are aimed at those above the legal drinking age, 18. We also believe pregnant women should not drink alcohol nor should women who are trying to fall pregnant. For more information visit: https://aware.org.za/
IS THERE ANY ALCOHOL IN CASTLE FREE?
An alcohol-free drink is considered alcohol-free if there is no more than 0.05% ABV (alcohol by volume). Castle Free contains less than 0.03% alcohol, thus it's classified as alcohol-free beer.
