If ever there was a reason to raise a cold beer, this is surely it. The SAB World of Beer has won the award for best visitor experience in the culture and lifestyle category at the prestigious annual Lilizela Tourism Awards.
The highly regarded Lilizela Tourism Awards recognise and reward organisations in the tourism sector who strive to deliver world-class products and service. The awards are premised on the fact that exceptional tourism offerings develop South Africa's global competitiveness and that every individual and organisation in the industry plays a role in contributing towards this.
Organisations that enter are first voted for by the public since, as the Awards contend, "there’s nobody more important than you ... the consumer of products and services offered by South Africa’s tourism industry". Judges then assess prominent applicants based on their reviews on TripAdvisor and the engagement they have with their visitors on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.
The World of Beer was shortlisted for two categories: meetings, exhibitions and special events (five star), and visitor experience: culture and lifestyle. In both categories, competition was stiff and we were proud to be among such exceptional industry players.
Says World of Beer general manager Tony Rubin, "This award is the result of a lot of hard work from a very special and dedicated team. The award is important because it raises the team's spirits, and makes them realise that what they're doing is correct. It's affirmation from the general public, confirming that we're going in the right direction and we need to keep going in that direction.
"Thank you to all those who voted for us."
Well done to everyone at the SAB World of Beer. Cheers!
